Friends of jazz must not miss out on holiday in Sicily. Did you know that Sicily has the most lively jazz scene in Italy? Great artists like Enzo Rao comes from the south. He is a talented jazz musician who not only masters the bass guitar and the violin but also the mule drum and such unusual instruments as the Langhals from the Balkans or the Arab Oud. Enzo plays live with his group Shamal who interprets American jazz in their very own way.

If you come to Palermo, the capital of Sicily, you directly reach the heart of the Italian jazz scene. There are many great jazz clubs. For instance the Palermo Jazz Club in Via Quintino Sella with regular live jazz to be heard. The ambience here is very still and the staff is amazing. Best is to book a seat ahead of a concert unless you prefer to stay casually at the bar.
